curver+kimono is out today

High on life

The record that we made with Curver Thoroddsen and have been trying for years to get released is finally out. Curver produced our first album, mineur-aggressif, in 2003. After mixing each song, we would stay up with him for another four to five hours into the night making a "freak mix" of each song using sounds that didn't get used in the other version of the song.

No sound was left undisturbed. Amidst the reversing, stretching and general abuse of the songs, a result was achieved that lies somewhere between dub, post-rock and noise. We guarantee that you haven't heard an album that sounds like this before.

Part of the reason why the album has taken so long to come out is that each part of the preparation took place with years sometimes passing in between. In June 2005, kimono and curver met in London to stage a happening. They prepared a feast of pineapples, cherry tomatoes, sausages, fine wines and other (formerly legal) vegetables and had a tea party in a park while wearing various costumes. Photographs from this day were used for the cover.

The release is will take place with a photo exhibition and a three-hour improvisation concert at Gallery Kling & Bang.
